A track day is an organized event in which members of the public are allowed to drive around established motor racing circuits in any road legal vehicle (with the exception of trucks). Criteria for being eligible to participate include a valid driving license and the payment of a fee. Participants are separated by experience and expertise in to 3 or 4 groups (Novice, Intermediate, Experienced, Advanced). There is time for a varing number of these sessions throughout the event. The participants use their own vehicles under the guidance of experienced current or former racers.
As drivers become more secure with their abilities and the track environment they can progress to higher level groups. A performance driving experience is an opportunity to work with a mentor and get practice in car handling and precision driving in your own car. This is a non-competitive, untimed event. The opportunity you receive in the PDX allows you a chance to driving on a local road racing track, the safest place to experience performance driving.
For safety, drivers are required to wear a helmet, long sleeve shirt and long pants. The PDX for many is the first taste of real performance driving behind the wheel in their own car. Don’t have a helmet? A loaner helmet can be provided to those who don’t own one.
