2009 – The 54th Consecutive Running – “It’s Not Just Another Race” ™
Dear Competitor
Chicago Region SCCA celebrates its 61st anniversary in 2009, and we hope you will help us celebrate by competing in the 54th consecutive running of the June Sprints.
Chicago Region believes that tradition and family are major components for the ongoing success of this annual event. Our Grand Marshal this year was involved in ACCUS and SCCA, served as our Regional Executive in 1969, and having also received the Woolf Barnato Award in 1972. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Burdette Martin as our Grand Marshal of the 2009 Chicago Region June Sprints. Mr. Martin, and his family, exemplify what the June Sprints has always been about; competition, family and fun.
An extensive effort was made to provide you with an outstanding racing experience. All of the elements that make the Sprints a unique event will be in place again this year, including the fantastic Road America facility, enthusiastic fans, a strong contingency program, and intense competition.
A few things to remember for 2009:
- We are again offering online registration via the www.dlbracing.com website.
- We strongly encourage you to register online if at all possible; it’s fast and free.
- The location of Victory Circle has been moved to the South end of the upper paddock near pit out.
- You may also note the scales and tech impound has moved further south in the paddock.
- A new traffic pattern has been established in the upper paddock. Traffic will run south along the pit lane and north on the parallel paddock road south of St. John’s concession stand. Pit Out will be the only exit on pit lane from the track.
- Pit Out is also the new location of the black flag station.
- Any Annual Techs or the issuing of a new log book will require an appointment. To make arrangements, Please Contact Joe Griffin at (708)597-8299 or send Email: joegriffin@att.net
- Additional fuel testing will be conducted matching the CRB proposal for 2010 fuel testing to collect data for evaluation. The results of this testing will not impact the results of the event.
- The June Sprints is open to all National SCCA classes.
SCCA races are made possible through the efforts of hundreds of specialty volunteers. They are always looking for more help. If you, or any of your crew, friends, or family would be interested in helping out during the Sprints, or any other Chicago Region race weekend—even for just a few hours—please stop by registration and let them know you would like to help. They will be happy to find you something interesting and fun to do.
All drivers and their crew are welcome at our Friday night party in the Road America Center.
